Poor hydration can lead to a host of issues for your elderly loved one. Water makes up 75% of the body's weight and a lack of water can cause issues with digestion, urinary tract infections, mental acuity, dry skin, poor moods, issues with how your mind functions and the neurotransmitters that manage many bodily function just to name a few.
At Angels Care, we are vigilant in making sure our residents are kept hydrated by drinking water and other liquids throughout the day as well as hydration rich fruits like watermelon and summertime favorites like our ice smoothies.
Smoothie Recipe-Strawberry Bannana
Add 2-3 cups of ice to your blender
Add 1 cup of ripe strawberries and 1 soft ripe bananna
Add a cup of water and milk and blend till creamy.
Serves 4-6 people with a 6-8 ounce portion
